Habits make your busy life simple

As a 43-year-old dad, husband, and business owner, I know firsthand how tough it can be to squeeze in those workouts or runs. Just like you, if I don’t get it done in the morning—especially on the weekends—it often doesn’t happen.

I’ve found myself running with a headlamp or lifting weights at odd hours, all in the name of prioritizing myself and my health. With two kids under 8, juggling drop-offs, pickups, and after-school activities, the only way I can make this happen is by carving out time—often early in the morning. I do this to stay fit, keep building strength, and build injury resilience. It’s about keeping my body fit so I can tackle the duties of being a dad, husband, and business owner with more confidence.

My secret is simple: I set my alarm on my dresser, so I have to get up to turn it off. Do I always want to get up? Nope—but once I’m out of bed, the hardest part is done. My coffee is ready to brew, and my first meal—cottage cheese waffles—is prepped. By keeping my morning routine simple, it makes building this habit much easier.

What’s challenging you when it comes to staying fit? Is it time, motivation, or something else? Let me know—I’m here to help.
