Chat GPT tells me it’ll take you 2 minutes to read this……
As a 43-year-old dad, husband, and business owner, I can’t stress enough the importance of protein in my daily routine. It’s essential for muscle rebuilding, maintaining energy levels, and keeping me feeling full. However, maintaining this my nutrition, especially my protein intake ( I aim for 1 gram per pound of ideal body weight) once school comes around can be a challenge.
While I’d love to eat whole food – prepared and hot minutes before I consume- it’s just not in the cards for me. So, I keep things as simple as possible.
My 3 favorite morning staples are:
1: Lox, eggs and an english muffin- Prep time is a few minutes- When I’m in a huge hurry I grab hard boiled eggs instead of cooking them.
2: Pre-cooked- by me- cottage cheese waffles- I prep about 8 of these on Sunday and just reheat them in the waffle maker- Prep time is 3 minutes
3: Protein shake. I love a scoop of BPN chocolate peanut butter, handful of frozen berries and a cup of milk. Often, I’ll prep this the night before I coach or have a call at 5 am.
Two big big takeaways
- Being prepared takes a lot of the stress out of getting my protein in. No matter how busy I get. Set your shopping cart and mornings up for success, it helps, I promise.
- Drinking coffee before eating makes it harder to get my protein in. While there’s some science behind this, what really stands out to me is how much it impacts my hunger.
